Fairtrade

In 2006, we became a Fairtrade church, switching to Fairtrade certified tea, coffee, sugar and other products, to help make a difference to the lives of farmers and workers in some of the world’s poorest countries. We also promote Fairtrade at other times of the year by holding events, stalls and activities to raise awareness and enable people to increase the number of Fairtrade products they buy.
In 2007, we signed up as a Fair Trader with Traidcraft, supporting their work with some of the most disadvantaged communities in the world.

Fairtrade Party
On a Sunday afternoon in March 2007, we had a fantastic party to celebrate and promote Fairtrade. Here are some of the things we did:
- Fairtrade chocolate tasting
- Fairtrade stall
- Fairtrade chocolate fountain
- Fairtrade candy floss
- Fairtrade quiz
- Fairtrade egg and spoon race
the children's eggs (or ping pong balls!) were stuck to the spoons, while the adults were not, so the children won! We then used this as an illustration of fairness. Our local MP and councillor attended and joined in the egg and spoon race!
- Fairtrade cakes
- Fairtrade football tournament
